Secant Group Utilizes eMaint CMMS to Support Culture Change Toward Reliability
Customer Since: 2015 | Industry: Medical
Secant Group engineers biomaterials to facilitate the repair, recovery and regeneration of the human body. The company wanted to improve maintenance scheduling and asset management, as well as shift the prevalent maintenance behaviors within Secant Group. Today the company has reached over 90% compliance across all locations.
BACKGROUND
Secant Group engineers biomaterials to facilitate the repair, recovery and regeneration of the human body. The industrial division manufactures materials for airlines, and space/satellite technology. Michael Manacchio, Reliability & Facility Manager at Secant Group, was brought on board to take the company to the next level in reliability and maintainability.
THE CHALLENGE
Prior to eMaint, Secant Group used FaciliWorks to manage maintenance. The company brought on Manacchio in an effort to improve maintenance scheduling and asset management, as well as shift the prevalent maintenance behaviors within Secant Group.
Once goals and objectives were outlined, the team put together a plan to implement these improvements, and finding an effective CMMS solution that was 21CFR part 11 compliant, able to be validated, and easy-to-use. Manacchio found eMaint CMMS and discovered that the feature set, compliance capabilities and support aligned with key goals of Secant Group at a fraction of the cost of the competition.
IMPLEMENTATION
Secant Group first rolled out eMaint to a new site. With the help of eMaint’s Professional Services department, Secant Group built a personalized task library and preventive maintenance schedules templates to standardize procedures across all other locations.
A phased approach was put in place to include new facility data entry, data migration from Faciliworks to eMaint, onsite training to include personalized job aids, validation performed by Secant and went live shortly after.
Manacchio and the team then set up their asset library, associated tasks with assets and established project champions and a cross-functional implementation team. Every week, this team held eMaint project improvement meetings, where they would analyze their process and plan next steps, such as creating a weblink for work requests, and deciding on required fields on forms.
RESULTS
Michael Manacchio and the Secant Group team are very impressed with eMaint thus far. Every month, the company tracks how well they are completing their calendar-based preventive maintenance plan. When they first implemented eMaint, they were at 50-60% compliance, and today the company has reached over 90% across all locations.
In the medical field, auditors need to know that a maintenance management system is compliant and validated. Every time a work order is closed out, the technician fills out an electronic signature that is date and timestamped to develop accurate and detailed records.
The company has 47 mobile technicians & 11 full users logging their work time into eMaint to track labor resources, which has helped support a shift in maintenance behaviors by increasing accountability. Manacchio also appreciates the ability to personalize almost all aspects of the system to fit the company’s needs.
All Secant Group locations are now live on eMaint, with upcoming PMs generated via email every month to managers, supervisors and group leads.
